Cristina Bertoldo is the CEO of LIC Packaging, a family-run business in its second generation. For over 60 years, the company has been designing and producing packaging solutions for direct packaging and transport, as well as display solutions for showcasing and promoting products using corrugated board.
The company, unique in its sector, manages the entire production process in-house, from raw material procurement to the distribution of the finished product, ensuring the reliability of a single point of contact and traceability of each individual piece.
This operational approach is guaranteed not only by extensive know-how but also by the adoption of cutting-edge technological tools, which not only allow for economies of scale in terms of time but also contribute to the company’s recognition as an excellent example of industrial strength.
The recent acquisition of the new HP PageWide T1190 digital printer positions LIC Packaging Spa as the only production company in the world to own the complete range of HP digital printers for paper and corrugated board.
This industrial printer uses inkjet technology with water-based Food Safe inks and produces high-quality graphics with great flexibility and the ability to customize even individual items/pieces.
Sustainability is a key factor for us. For example, 100% of the raw materials we purchase are FSC certified, our photovoltaic system is expanding, and we use food-safe water-based glues in our printing and gluing processes. We also continuously reuse our production scraps, and water and steam generated by all our production processes are reintroduced into the various stages of manufacturing. The growing importance of sustainability, along with an increasingly aware consumer who is attentive to both the quality of food and the materials used for packaging, inspired us to create a line dedicated to food packaging, fully compatible with market demands.

Eco&Food: Packaging for Direct Food Contact
Through Eco&Food, a business unit of LIC Packaging, it has been possible to design and create packaging using HT BOARD, a revolutionary material by nature, specifically designed to contain food in direct contact with pure cellulose paper sourced from certified forests. This material ensures not only food hygiene and safety but also provides a multifunctional and environmentally sustainable packaging solution.

HT BOARD is suitable for use in both traditional ovens and microwaves. It is non-stick and forms a barrier against fats, oils, and liquids in general.
But that’s not all: In response to socio-demographic changes, including smaller, multi-ethnic families and an increasing demand for fast and easy-to-prepare meals, LIC Packaging has developed the Eco&Food line—ideal containers for:
- Packaging
- Storing
- Cooking
- Consuming ready meals
These containers are made from 100% paper, customizable with high-quality prints and food-safe inks. Most importantly, they are recyclable within the paper recycling stream or compostable in organic waste.
